TOPIC Idea: Is Common Core the right or wrong way to go?
Watch this video from a senior in high school commenting about Common Core. I'm very curious about peoples' comments before and after they watch the video.
I feel like common core helps set a general idea of what students are suppose to learn throughout a school year but at the same time it puts restraints on how in detail teacher can go into specific details and better understanding of topics. After watching the video I really agree with that teachers are not having teachable moments but set on guides and 'jumping through hoops" to pass standardized test. Teachers are forced to ignore interest and put all students in a one size fits all model and teach to the test for specific scores in order to obtain funding. Through this I agree with the video a feel like we are producing a society of robots.
